China Lights Oriental Cuisine

Opened in 2007, China Lights Oriental Cuisine is the largest buffet restaurant in Alaska, with a 10,000 square feet dining area that can accommodate 300 patrons. A party room at China Lights II is home to many a birthday, wedding banquet and other memorable occasion. Catering is also part of the mix and is aimed at hungry local school administrators, teachers and students, and corporate or private parties.

China Lights opened to rave reviews for its exterior design and health-conscious menu. They specialize in Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine and are the only restaurant to offer an all-you-can-eat sushi bar in Alaska. The sushi rolls are prepared by highly trained sushi chefs, each with more than 30 years of experience. An additional wow factor is that China Lights is the only game in town that serves dim sum. Various salads and dessert cakes are part of the diversity of choice at the sushi buffet. Their signature dishes include Alaska King Crab, King Salmon, Tempura Shrimp and Cheese Mussels. 

Owner Tracy Fan is strict when it comes to delivering dishes that customers request made without oil and MSG. They use a trove of fresh vegetables with tofu to enhance their nutritious offerings.

Never say the customer is wrong. That's Tracy's modus operandi. She explains, “If there is a dispute or complaint, we should first apologize to the customer and look for ways to improve our service.” Indeed, with this customer-oriented philosophy in mind, Tracy and her staff are very considerate and attentive to small details.

China Lights Oriental Cuisine has become a local standout, attracting the attention of media, including the Anchorage Daily News. In the 6th annual Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA awarding ceremony, it received recognition as one of the Top 100 Chinese restaurants in the USA in the category of Top 100 Overall Excellence.
